Is it possible to hook up an Apple ipod 4s phone to a 10 year old stereo amplifier?

Just downloaded 400 songs and wondered if it was possible to connect the ipod to my older stereo amplifier. I have the connectors from Ipod to amp but do I need some sort of adapter modem given I got no signal to the amp plugging into auxiliary port? Will a need a new amp with a loading dock?

LOL, the Amp was a top of the line Onkyo which I paid a pretty penny for which I why I am trying to grasp at straws.

Thanks,

Michael Kelly

The headset jack on the top of the phone should work fine. At about 3/4 volume the phone's output will be just what the amp wants to see. It's the exact same thing as plugging the phone into a vehicle aux connector.

if the amp has RCA connectors on the aux inputs a simple 3.5mm to dual RCA connector adapter cable will work.

I went out and got an adapter that plugs into my iPod. http://www.google.com/search?q=ipod+to+rca+adapter...

I think it cost me about $20 on sale.
