Do Korean people dress like Westerners or do they dress in traditional clothing everyday?

If you could provide an article or some evidence to go along with you answer that would be really helpful. Thanks!!!

Update:

Ummm, it's for a school project. No one made you answer the question. I've never been to Korea before. How the heck am I supposed to know!?!?! I'm pretty sure you're the ignorant one....

Koreans wear western clothes. We only wear traditional Korean clothes on New Years or Thanksgiving, funeral, and on a day that is significant. Oh, and the traditional Korean clothes have a name - it's called Hanbok.

Koreans used to wear Hanbok everyday until the Japan took over Korea in 1910. Some Japanese were already wearing western clothes and Koreans had to wear western clothes as well because Japan took over Korea. Kind of like Germany taking over Poland? Anyways, many Koreans refused to wear Japanese clothes or western clothes and insisted on wearing Hanbok.

After that, Korean War happened, North Koreans vs South Koreans. The war ended in a tie. Anyway, I think you know that American army came to help South Korea. South Koreans began to like Americans and their cultures as well. It wasn't until like 1960s to 1970s when the war was over that the fashion of Korea changed dramatically. The generations were changing and embraced the western cultures. Now in 21st century, if you wear Hanbok in the streets, people will think you are weird.

Anyways, to answer your question in short, no, we don't wear traditional clothing everyday. We wear western clothes. It's normal to wear western clothes in Korea. (At least in South Korea, it's normal. I don't know about North Korea).

Source(s): I was born and raised in South Korea until I came to Canada 5 years ago. All of the information above is part of Korea's history.

South Korean people dress just like you and I. A South Korean girl could walk around NYC wearing what she usually wears in Seoul, and she would not look out of place. "Traditional Clothing" is called such for a reason. It is only worn on formal or special occasions, such as a school graduation or festival. It is also worn during entertainment set in a different era - such as a TV show set in 1400.

I think this question is really ignorant...

Just because they're not from the west, you don't think they wear modern clothing?
