Why are there dead animals displayed in restaurants?

Question

We visited a restaurant and I saw dead animals in the walls. There are deer heads, birds, foxes, civets, skin of animals, and more. Are they real animals, or just statues?

And one more question: What kind of animal is this? It is one of the dead animals from the restaurant. It is has brown fur/hair. It is as big as a dog. It has a long body, a tail, short legs, round head, and a short neck. It could be an otter, but the mouth looks like a bill/beak, so is it a platypus? Or maybe a crocodile or an alligator?

It's not fake, it's something they hunted for, killed, got them stuffed and glued or nailed(?) to those plaques or just mounted on the walls. It's there way of decoration.... My aunts husband has 2 in his house and I think they're disgusting... 

And it couldn't be an otter if it has a beak. Otters don't have them.. It could definitely be a platypus, did it have webbed looking feet? Not sure of any other animals... Hmm, I was thinking a beaver but nope, they don't have a beak and have what looks like a waffle tail x) I can't think of anything else it could be, but definitely looks/sounds like it's a platypus.

Do you eat dead animals? Then what's the problem with looking at dead animals? Yea, they are real...really dead; once live animals that someone displayed as a trophy. 

The "weird" animal could be a combination of animal parts, made to look like it was once alive. One of the more common one is the jack rabbit w/antlers.
