If you want healthy hair, try taking care of your roots and ends.

    2

Apply hair grease or oil to your hair at least twice a week to your roots and your ends. It will moisturize the roots and ends to keep it from being dull and unhealthy. Avoid grease if your hair type is oily, because you will get greasy limp hair.

    3

Do not braid your hair after getting a perm for a week. Just wait. If you braid your hair too soon after getting a perm, it will break the ends of your hair.

    4

Every night you need to wrap your hair or braid into big loose braids. This will allow you to have less knots in your hair.

    5

Try to brush your hair only when its necessary. Do not follow that old routine of brushing your hair 100 times before you go to sleep. It does not make your hair any healthier or better. In fact, it makes it worse. If you really do need to brush your hair, try a boar bristled brush. It massages your scalp and distributes oils from your roots to your ends, so it prevents split ends.

    6

Blow dry your hair as little as possible. The heat is not good for the health of your hair. Try to air dry your hair instead of blow drying. Save blow drying for special occasions instead.

    7

Use a wide-comb brush when your hair is wet. Your hair is stretchier and more prone to breaking when it's wet, and if you use a normal brush, you might break your strands. It also causes split ends. Also do not just pull through your hair when combing your hair. If you come across an knot, gently untangle it with your fingers.

    8

Eating a lot of protein is really good for your hair. Granola has a lot of it, so try to eat at least 1/4 a cup a day. Try to research on the internet about many other foods that have protein in it.

    9

Keep temperature in mind. Hair follicles are like skin pores: heat stimulates them, cool air relaxes them. For example, once a week, microwave your normal conditioner for 6 seconds. Smooth onto damp hair, keep in for 5 minutes and rinse in cool/cold water.

    10

Try not to wash your hair every day. Washing hair everyday strips it of its natural oils, which help maintain your hair and keep it healthy. Try washing hair every 2 or 3 days.

    11

When shampooing hair, do not apply it to the ends. It will seriously dry your ends out. Just apply it to the top of your hair. When you are rinsing, the suds of the shampoo will clean the ends.

    12

Use a hot oil treatment once a week. This can be easily done by mixing any 3 different kinds of oil in a saucer. Microwave for 1-2 minutes and apply to hair. Allow this application to stay on for an hour before washing. This will give your hair enough body and long lasting shine. Hair will look much healthier.

    Tips

Once a week, try using an hair mask. Wet your hair, then put in the hair mask. Do not rinse it out yet. Leave it on for at least 5-10 minutes. Then rinse with cold water. Hair masks help keep your hair very healthy.

If you can't afford to buy an hair mask, you can make one out of ingredients found around the house:

    Olive Oil Hair Mask:

Mix 5 tablespoon of olive oil with 2 eggs. Apply thoroughly to hair. Wrap head with plastic wrap or a shower cap. After 15 minutes rinse well.

Rinsing your hair with cold water helps make your hair shiny. Rinsing with hot water opens up the pores while cold water will close them and seal in the proteins from the shampoo and conditioners.

    WARNINGS

Beware of some pills that claim to help hair grow better or help hair become healthier. Although not all of them are bad for you, some can be fake and harmful.

There is no such thing as a shampoo that fixes split ends, the only way to fix this is to trim your hair.
