Shoudl people still be allowed to own guns? -Yes, absolutely.

Is the 2nd amendment still relevant in today's world? -Yes, more so than ever.

Should the US pass an assault weapons ban? -No, absolutely not. That defeats the purpose of the 2nd amendment. Besides, assault weapons are scary by name only.

Do people need full auto assault weapons and armor piercing bullets for hunting? -No, in fact they're illegal to hunt with. However, the 2nd amendment has absolutely nothing to do with hunting. It's about arming the citizens to protect themselves mostly against the Government.

I think the laws should stricter in many states but guns should not be outlawed completely because then the same thing will happen as with marijuana, the black market with explode with fun dealers. The second amendment was written hundreds of years ago, back them rifle were inaccurate, and it took a long time I reload one bullet. Also the main reason the second amendment was made was so that colonists could protect themselves from the British soldiers, not for recreational purposes. Now guns shoot very fast, reload quickly, and are very very deadly. Although most people use them responsibly, some people do not, which is why once again I think there should be gun restricting laws but guns should still be legal.

It is a waste of time arguing this. There is in the US right now 2.1 guns for every man, woman, and child. Banning them (making them illegal) will have the same effect as the drug laws and liquor during Prohibition. It will simply drive them underground. Very few will get removed from circulation. Even in countries that ban private ownership of firearms there are still a lot of illegal guns running around. The only solution to violence is to change the nature of Man.

    Good luck with that.

In the 20th Century, about 56 million people, first disarmed with gun control, were exterminated by their own governments.

Even in the USA, tens of thousands of folks were rounded up and imprisoned with no trials, merely for the crime of being of Japanese descent, including many natural and naturalized US Citizens.

Unless you can guarantee that our gov't will never turn against us ever, we still need those guns.

As you can surmise from my answer, the 2nd Amendment has ZERO to do with hunting.

Perhaps your concept of what constitutes a right is flawed. When we exercise a right, we do not need permission from the government, they are not allowing us to do anything. Owning a gun is a right, and not a privilege granted to us by the government. All that the 2nd Amendment does is to tell the government that they cannot take that right away from us.

I think the people need guns. Many people believe that guns are evil, but the gun itself isn't bad it is the person who pulled the trigger who controls the gun. I think that guns are what will save our families of something happens. They are our best defense system as a people.

Of course. If we need to overthrow the government and their tanks, planes, smart bombs, artillery, and missiles, we'll at least have our pistols and rifles. Okay, so they're no good for the purpose the second amendment claims, but at least they give Republicans something to masturbate with.

why do people want bans on guns? what so some as/swipe can break into your home beat you over the head with a crowbar, rape your family and take your expensive toys. a gun may have prevented that.
