What will you recommend as defense secretary?

-purchase 12 older, in service, surplus, large warships being retired from a foreign navy. such as the 7 cruisers, 3 amphibious landing ships, 2 oilers scheduled to retire from the US Navy. [ships still in service are better than 'mothballed' ships, that often have guns or other important parts disabled or removed.]

- purchase or build 1 or 2 new warships per year, start retiring the most obsolete ships in the AFP navy once adequate ship numbers have been achieved. Start with smaller new ships such as frigates.

build 1000 small fast patrol boats over the next 5 years, mostly wood/fiberglass/resin boats with 2 inboard car/truck motors, that can cruise at 30 knots.

- purchase 12 older, in service, flying 3rd generation fighter trainers, maybe a cheap soviet model.

- purchase 12 new Korean fighters, 4 this year and 8 more over the next 2 years.

- build 1 new Korean model fighter per year in the Philippines under license with Korean firm.

- buy or build 100 seaplanes ./ flying boats of various sizes over the next 4 years.

-purchase for almost nothing, about 1000 surplus MRAP [mine resistant armored vehicles] from the US military, who has so many of these they are being destroyed in Afghanistan & Iraq, rather than pay the shipping fees].

- offer tuition free ROTC courses in most colleges and high schools, with free uniforms, meals, etc.. require schools to accept the ROTC courses as elective credits toward graduation & GPA.

reactivate 'blended' US - AFP units such as the elite Filipino Scouts, consisting of mostly US officers & Filipino enlisted men; with superior state of the art weaponry, training and access to all available resources.

There is nothing that can be done by Sec of Defense in regards to China's action.

Much better to wage an "all out" war against the NPA and Muslim extremist groups.

No need to negotiate any kind of "peace" and no need to offer any amount of money to appease them.

Whatever it takes and however long it takes but do something to show the Philippine people that the Philippine government is not a wimp and is a force to be reckoned with or else.

I will make sure we form a prayer brigade. That is our only defense versus the military power of all of our Asian neighbors.

WE SHOULD TRAIN MORE SUICIDE BOMBERS AND SEND THEM TO CHINA AS DOMESTICATED HELPERS.THEY WILL BE INSTRUCTED TO BLOW THEMSELVES IN POPULATED AREAS IF CHINA ATTACKS THE PHILIPPINES.
