What city close to Santa Cruz, California has the cheapest hotel rates?
My hubby and I are leaving on a short mini vacation to Santa Cruz and we want the best deals on hotels possible. We know in the city can be high priced, so I was wondering if there were any close cities that had lower prices.

Define close. Santa Cruz has resort rates. Salinas overall will be cheaper.

This is a super cheap hotel. Think Motel 6-ish. I booked via Expedia and this was one of the cheapest hotels in Santa Cruz near the beach. It's cheap. It's not the Four Seasons.

I don't know what you mean "in the city". Santa Cruz is more like a little town. It's got about 60,000 residents. There is not much around. You can stay in Aptos or Watsonville... but you will have to drive 20+ mins to Santa Cruz.
