Catholic Exorcism Ritual?

Question

As I understand it, the Catholic exorcism ritual relies on the exorcist not acknowledging the existence of the demon or whatever entity is being exorcised.  How does that work, exactly?  How do you attempt to banish something without acknowledging its presence?  How do you confront evil without facing it and naming it?

Or is my perception of it only the Hollywood version?

they find out first whether there are psychiatric reasons why the victim is acting strangely before moving on to exorcism, in a vast majority of cases mental problems surface, not possession.

You're perception is off. Maybe you should look for resources beyond Hollywood?
