Can a Toyota Prius be driven just like any other car?

It's not supposed to be driven "special" is it? Can you drive in the mountains, up and down hills, in the rain, freeway, back roads, etc.? You know, like any car. Thanks.

Yes, of course! We've taken ours on interstate trips, over high mountains, in rain (but not snow 'cos it doesn't snow here).

We drove over a high pass through the Sierras a few years ago, up to an altitude of about 10,000 ft. Almost to the top, the engine began making a funny noise. We pulled over to investigate and found there was a fan that blows on the batteries to keep them cool. It only goes on when the batteries reach a certain temperature. And they'd never gotten hot enough before so we'd never heard the fan go on! Haven't heard it since either! It takes several hours going up a steep hill to reach that temperature!
