Why is my table tennis racket rubber like this?
I have a new table tennis racket but the rubber is kind of rough (not rubbery) in texture, and it's not shiny. It kinda smells like the rubber from shoes. Is it supposed to be that way? It's brand is double power.

Soft texture is tacky and is preferred by people who like to spin. Harder textures are for those that hit the ball harder. You can do both for any rubber but it helps with the preferred rubber. Good luck and I suggest you look up Butterfly, Joola or Stiga products.
