should the nba get rid of divisions and conferences?

In my opinion, I think I might have the solution to the nba divisions and conferences. The nba should keep divisions and conferences, but it should adopt the following system...

1-the best 16 teams based on regular season

The current tie breakers should stay in place.

2-fifa draw raffle should be emulated--somewhat!

playoff teams will be placed in 4 drawing pots.

pot 1: teams 1-4, pot 2: teams 5-8, pot 3: teams 9-12, pot 4: teams 13-16

Match up construction ...

during a televised draw a team from pot 1 will be drawn and will face another drawn team from pot 4. We proceed similarly with pots 2 and 3.

for the second round we repeat the process. We place the best teams based on regular season record and place them in pot 1 and the remaining four in pot 2. Teams again are drawn and matched up. The draw gets televised too. Then for the semifinals the same .

I know this system may be perceived as a little unfair to the best teams, but it gives a lot of hope to fans of the lower seeds. nothing sell more tickets and raises interest than the idea of hope. This system also grantees that the best two teams will not see each other before the finals should they advance. clause: if teams from same conference meet in the playoffs their series will follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format with the team with the best regular season record having home court. If teams from different. Conferences meet a 2-3-2 format will proceed. Finals will be 2-2-1-1-1 regardless.

That will cost the NBA money, and when you're realistic won't do jack for the real contenders, it'll just over-complicate things, which usually means less viewers.

The West has a great W-L record because they play no-D, and put a lot of value in making the Playoffs(even if they don't stand a chance in the Playoffs), as soon as the playoffs start, only 1, sometimes 2 teams are capable of winning a 7 game series.

For the East, nobody cares about Playoffs, if you can't win a Championship why drag it out, so in the East a lot more teams tank the season, because in the Playoffs there's also 1, sometimes 2 teams capable of winning it all in the East.

Just look at what the teams in the West have done in previous years, only the Spurs, and if they're lucky, the Grizzlies are a 7-game series type team, the rest loses 1st round, or 2nd.

And if the Spurs don't make it, the Vegas favorite then becomes the Cavs, followed closely by the Bulls, so that's what those great records are worth in the West, the 7th seed is favored to win, and if they don't, the East is most likely to win.

Source(s): The current format is good, when they finally allow Defense back into the game, all the crazy W/L records in the West will normalize. Right now the rules favor the culture in the West, people often forget but the culture in West, and East are as different as the cultures in the National, and American League in Baseball.

Yes, there should be. Too many times a team with a losing record makes the playoffs in the east and they end up being the equivalent of a bye week for the 1st and 2nd seed. While in the West, specifically this year, has a 7th and 8th seed that could potentially ruin a top seed's championship hopes. There should not be raffles or draws to determine positions, that is rètarded. This isnt soccer or international competition. Should be kept simple, team with the best record gets the top seed and privilege to play the 16th seed. Current tie breaker system shoul be left intact. And Conference and Divisions should outright be disposed of.
