Should I replace my cmos battery?

My pc had a problem. The monitor didn't had a display so I switched it off and on a couple of times and then it says "checksum cmos error, F1 to continue etc." My keyboard doesn't have a respond so I had to switch off my pc again. Then at that point everytime I switched my pc on my monitor didn't had a display at all until I removed the cmos from the mobo. I switch it on and my pc started working(without the cmos). It worked perfectly. Then I switch it off again to put back the cmos on the mobo. But then again when I switched it on the monitor didn't had a display. Is the cmos battery dead?

A new battery is not very expensive. Likely it is a type CR2032. Take the old one with you and get a new one. I have even seen them at dollar stores.
