NDP Canada. What has the NDP done to improve the lives of canadians and what are their goals?

Well, the first and most obvious thing the NDP did to improve Canadian lives was when the NDP was elected to the province of Saskatchewan, and then leader Tommy Douglas introduced the concept of universal healthcare to Canadians.

In the 70s, it was the NDP federal party that supported a Liberal minority government to help adjust pension payments and allowed for the creation of Petro Canada, a crown corporation that would help keep some of Canada's oil and gas profits in the country and re-invested here.

I believe Jack Layton brought the NDP into a pretty mainstream party. And while Tom Mulcair does not seem to have that same charisma and drive as Layton did, I believe the party has a legitimate shot at forming a government. The issue in this election is that many Canadians are upset and tired of Harper and the Conservatives. And many don't trust Trudeau due to his youth. So it opens the door for a more-to-the-center NDP.

Three more weeks to go... Lots of issues and missteps can happen in the next 22 days. For any of the parties. Voters will have to just look at their federal ridings and see which candidate is worth voting for, since ultimately that is who will be representing them in Ottawa.

Well, those of us with right-wing politics would say not much! However, they do provide a balance for the right, which we can see in the USA what happens when you only have a right wing (both the Democrats, and Republicans are on the right).

There are things like universal healthcare that was first brought in by the CCF, the predecessor to the NDP provincially in Saskatchewan. In my opinion, most provincial NDP governments did more damage than good, but, others would argue the opposite.

The NDP used to be openly socialist, but, they removed the socialist word from their policy platforms a few years ago, however, they certainly still represent socialist opinion in Canada.

The NDP is the successor of the CCF - started by a bunch of farmers in Saskatchewan, Canada's own brand of socialism.

Look up their website and read their party platform
