What is the translated meaning of this? "On ne peut pas vivre si l on n est pas gai" - Jean Jacques Sempe?

    It means "you can't live if you are not happy" or "one can't live without being happy." So basically being happy is the meaning of life. "Gai" in this context does not refer to homosexuality. The rest of the quote (following this one) talks about "joie de vivre" etc.

    This is like saying: "You can't live if you're not happy."

    However, the literal translation is: "One cannot live if that one is not gay."
