What was Moore's bigger handicap today? Was it being a pedophile or was it being supported by Trump?

There is no "George Soros spin machine," respondent jimm. I sometimes wish we Democrats had a PR firm on retainer like the GOP has (Hill & Knowlton in Washington D.C.) and a "Republican Noise Machine" (Brock, 2004) to spin, but we are not that organized, unfortunately. As humorist Will Rogers was fond of saying, "I am not a member of any organized party. I'm a Democrat" (insert smiley face here).
This being said, you have asked a provocative and timely question, Sageandscholar. My educated guess on what worked against the twice-fired former federal judge Roy Moore was an accumulation of assorted negatives, with the worst of these being the abuse of power as a Prosecutor in his 30s to prey upon underage teenage girls, but also a review of Moore's past diatribes against and abuses of our U.S. Constitution as well as Moore's various prejudices and seeming insanity. Having unpopular Trump back you is what probably tipped the scales toward Doug Jones in such a wide margin.

Mr. Trump's support made no difference. Those Hollywood people may have helped Jones, and the campaign to bring Moore down for very old sexual activity was effective.

Both are strengths to attract white conservative voters. Especially the pedophile part. Ain't no secret that white males and minors are not very fond of each other, but white males still molest them anyways.
