Lost money...help?

my coworkers each gave me ten bucks for pizza and I got a coupon online for 5 bucks off...they told me to tip the cook 2 bucks so they could each just get a dollar back and it would be easier to split the change. So if they all paid 9 dollars for the pizza (9x3 is 27) and they gave the cook 2 (27 + 2 is 29) ...now theyre mad because they want to know where did their last dollar go?

You leave out a lot of relevant information.

Assuming that three people each put in $10, and the total price of the pizzas was $30, and there was one coupon used worth $5 off of that $30 price, then that final cash outlay is $25. Add in a $2 tip, and the outlay goes to $27. Thus, each person spent $9 ($27/3) and gets $1 back from their ten in.

You lost their money so you have to pay them out of your pocket. Be more careful next time.
