Who much would a new transmission cost for a 2006 Mercury Montego?

    find local shop at ATRA.COM for estimate. as far as "new" you won't get that but a remanufactured transmission from dealer or another source the shop uses. shop can rebuild yours or a cheaper way is the junkyard. discuss it with the shop. but prices will vary between $2.700 to almost 4 grand depending on which option you pick with labor included

    More than the entire car is worth.

    New, Near 5 grand, installed.

    Rebuilt, 2 to 3 grand.

    Check with "repairpal.com" online. It will tell you the price of parts and labor, in your zipcode. And also has a list of recommended mechanics in the area.
