Should Movie Awards be voted for by public?
In the UK there is a television awards ceremony and each award is voted for by the public and
Would that be a good idea for major film awards? Because many complain about the Oscars, would it be a better award if there was a phone-in or website etc, where the viewers of public could vote for the winners.
Would that be a better idea than the panel who choose the Oscars etc?

There is already the award called "The People's Choice". As for the Oscars, people really don't take much notice of them any more.
And the idea of having a public vote would be a waste of time. Sadly, Joe Public doesn't often have a clue what good acting/directing/SFX/editing etc are in the first place.

The public already votes for movies by paying, or not paying, to see them.

Movie awards are neither given out by skill or production quality...It is all about money...you want an award showing the world that you are a good actor...you gotta pay up ...a big paycheck too

There are lots of other entertainment awards in the us. Some of which are voted on by larger panels, and some voted by the public. In addition to the People Choice Awards there are the following acting/movie/TV awards:
SAG Awards
Golden Globe
Drama Critics Awards
The Tony Awards
The Emmy Awards

The Oscars are a waste of time. Cinema goers are not interested, it's ignored in the U.K.
