Why do people say the Wii U failed?

I mean if it sold 6 million units and there are only 7 million people on the Earth, that means almost everyone has one, if you think about it. So why is it a business failure?

I think because as the successor to the very popular Nintendo Wii, its sales didn't rise to the performance of its predecessor in terms of units sold.

Nintendo started falling slowly with the GameCube invent, the Wii was a big nail in its coffin and the Wii u the final nail.
