For those of you who believe this, why do you think the Roman Catholic Church is not Christian?

I am not Catholic, so I have no particular dog in this fight. I am curious as to why people think this way. Please let me know. Thank you.

Pastor Joe-Bob read it in a Chick Tract!

All one has to do is read the great statement of faith held by Catholic Christians (Roman, Orthodox, Coptic, even some Protestants) to see that Catholics are Christian. The Nicene Creed proclaims belief in the Holy Trinity, in the incarnation of the Word as Jesus through the Virgin Mary, the death and resurrection, and the future glorious return of Christ. If they are not Christians, no one is.

    Forgive me.

Neither Jesus nor His apostles had directly established the RC nor Protestant churches. The RC originated in Rome which is intended to be universal Christian church which is literally what "catholic" means. But somewhere in history, Luther believed the leaders of this church has strayed away from the teachings of Christ. Rather the challenge the position of leadership, he broke away and started the Protestant church.

The doctrinal practices of Catholicism are very askew Biblically (What would we expect, the Church stemmed from the pagan Roman Empire) Take for example. purgatory, the fallacious idea that, all loved ones who pass on, are sealed in a ''heavenly wating room'' of such, and the only way in which these loved ones of yours could gain true salvation, is by way of earthly donations and tithes that are made to the Catholic Church, to ASSURE the salvation of the deceased. That, along with their genuine communion belief. That when you eat of the bread, and drink of the wine, they LITERALLY become the body, and blood of Christ as they are swallowed.

Then you have the fact that they had slaughtered, and exploited millions in past history. The Inquisition, their SELLING of indulgences to the poor in the mid 17th century for financial gain, etc. Aswell as their great focus and admiration of Saint's, certain ''holy'' idols, art etc, which is directly prohibited in Scripture, where God states to have no idols of any such.

Finally, along with many, many other unBiblical teachings.

the roman catholic church was started in italy in the 4th century by the emperor constantine based on the teachings of paul NOT jesus it has nothing to do with judaism which is what jesus preached and he didn't intend to set up a church worshiping him only to modify the jewish religion

It's not that they're not Christian, but many of their beliefs and their worship style are not biblical and can't be found in the Bible.

Many people may think this because there are some priests who are Christian/Catholic in name only.

Lukewarm priests who don't deserve to be in positions of faith.
