New Orleans drinking age/laws?

What are Louisiana drinking laws, specifically New Orleans? I have read that 18-20 year olds may enter a bar and drink as long as accompanied by parent/legal guardian. I have an upcoming trip and my sister in law is 19. Would just like to know beforehand if she’s be able to drink at any of the bars on Bourbon/Frenchman, etc.

It is true Louisiana law lets a parent or age 21+ spouse of someone age 18 to 20 buy drinks for them. Both need proof of identity and proof of the relationship (birth certificate or marriage license).

Best is for the person age 18 to 20 to stay silent while the age 21+ person orders and pays for the drinks.

It is still up to the establishment and they can refuse to sell the drinks which will be consumed by the person age 18 to 20. .

It's 21, just like the rest of America.

Interesting. My first thought was it s 21 and it doesn t matter who s with you. As it turns out, you are correct. LA is one of 10 states where people over 18 but under 21 can drink in a bar if a parent or spouse of legal age is legal.
