Unfortunately I think conservatives won this one. I've done a lot of legal research on this unlike most people who get their information from their favorite cable news shows. Since Trump never successfully obstructed anything and the underlying crime of collusion was never proven it makes a poor obstruction case in court.

Furthermore if you look at the defense Trump lawyers had laid out in case he was charged with obstruction it details how hypothetically firing Mueller is not actually obstruction since it was always intended to appoint a new independent investigator to finish the investigation and not end the investigation which is technically in Trump's legal power and not obstruction if the new investigator completed a clean investigation. I know a lot of people say that defense is junk, but it ends up being much stronger when you look at the fact Mueller was never fired. Since no one knows what the result of what a new investigator would have done all Trump's lawyers have to prove is that just firing Mueller wouldn't be obstruction in itself, which isn't that hard.

    It is what it is...

LOL. Though not for lack of trying on Trump's part. The moron was saved by his aides who refused to obey him.

Attempted "obstruction of justice", is still "obstruction of justice".

That's the best you got, is it ?

That is not even remotely close to what they've discussed. Nice try dirt bag!

obstruction of justice is not predicated on whether it succeeded but was it attempted.

So the sore losers say Trump obstructed the investigation of a crime that did not occur but he didn't actually obstruct the investigation but he should be charged with obstruction anyway?

    LOL

Not to mention, Mueller clearly laid out that collusion and obstruction are synonyms in his report.

    No collusion. No obstruction.

As an aside, Mueller looks completely bumbling and incompetent. This could not have been worse for the Democrats.

It wasn't because Trump's underlings didn't follow his orders.

Note that any endeavor to impede an investigation, successful or not, constitutes obstruction of justice.
