Have you seen the aerial photos of the islands? There's nothing there on some of them. Check with your cruise line or your hotels- if no one answers the phone, they probably have no electricity and no one is working there to answer the phone.

If you're going anywhere but the Abacos or Grand Bahama (Freeport) you should be okay. I would still call to verify.

    Yes. The weather is 'bracing'.

    EDIT for updated conditions.

    The resort??

The AIRPORT is under six feet of water.

Roads washed out thousands without homes. They have no need for spectators next week.

You can still have a vacation if prepared to help.

The Island has had a lot of damage from the storm. It will not all be fixed up in a few days.

Suggest you verify directly with your intended place to sleep to see if they are operational.

Lots of power outages, fallen trees blocked roads.

NO ONE can guess exactly where on the Island you desire to holiday.

The Island has not disappeared and will be repaired. It will take time.

Is it the best time to visit? Not really

Some are organizing repair adventures. Those volunteering to help repair some resorts get deals for current and future visits.

Suggest a little respect as they dig out and deal with the dead and injured.

Thousands have been left homeless accommodations you reserved may have been taken by emergency officials to house locals or the place is not able to take guests.

THIS IS NOT the place to get information on every restaurant, hotel, bed and breakfast, tourist boat excursion or whatever.

    Can tourists go? YES

Will it be the best adventure? NO.

Could you be in the way? YES

Could you help? Absolutely a YES.

Disaster survivors really do not need the help of spectators taking their selfies.

Of course you knew the Bahamas is over 700 islands. Not about to list the damage on each island individually. The North West part is the most damaged. Apaco in particular.
