Is it okay to travel solo?

So my friends can’t travel because of work. I booked the trip myself. Going to Caribbean Island, St Maarten

Is it a good idea?

It is a great idea. Try not to make any friends there. Also, do not be surprised when a security officer decides to ask you extra questions at passport control. They are suspicious of single people.

It's fine, fun in fact. I went around the world to 35 countries solo. You meet people as you go.

solo travel’s become one of the biggest travel trends of the past few years. Solo travel has lots of benefits – it can help build confidence, push you out of your comfort zone. One of the best things about travelling solo is that you can go exactly where you want to.

    This solo, solo, everybody

    This solo, everybody

    This solo, solo, everybody

I never meant to leave you hurtin'

I never meant to do the worst thing

Not to you (this solo, solo, everybody)

'Cause every time I read your message

I wish I wasn't one of your exes

Now I'm the fool (this solo, solo, everybody)

    Since you been gone

I've been dancing on my own

There's boys up in my zone

But they can't turn me on

'Cause baby, you're the only one I'm coming for

I can't take no more, no more, no more

I wanna f-woop, woop woop, but I'm broken hearted

Cr-cr-cry but I like to party

    T-t-touch but I got nobody

    Here on my own

I wanna f-woop, woop woop, but I'm broken hearted

Cr-cr-cry since the day we parted

    T-t-touch but I got nobody

    So I do it solo

While solo travel isn't unsafe, it's definitely less safe than traveling with other people, making the safety issue a "con" of traveling alone. ... So while this shouldn't make you avoid solo travel, you should take extra precautions in order to keep yourself safe.

Not if you are a young lady.

    Depends on you doesn't it?

If you're a seasoned traveler and are familiar with international laws that govern international travel (e.g., visas, passports, contraband, State Department warnings for some overseas locations, etc.) And you are comfortable with the idea that you might find conditions overseas a bit Spartan, then sure go ahead.

(I did Europe alone, flew into Amsterdam and traveled by train from the Netherlands, to France, and then to Germany. It took three weeks during summer break while I was in postgrad school. Had a great time. I was in my mid-twenties then.)

But a word of advice...it's a lot more fun to travel with a good friend or loved one than to travel solo. Sharing adventures overseas makes the whole experience more meaningful and enjoyable.

Too late anyway. It should be fine if you have booked with a reputable company who will have reps in resort. No reps means high risk.
