1980’s Porsche value? ?

I’ve looked everywhere, I can’t find any info. My friends dad has a red 1984 Porsche 911 with 140k miles on it. I don’t know anything about cars. We’re curious to see how much it’s worth, it’s an awesome car. He doesn’t drive it much anymore bc he’s so busy. He wants to sell it soon, so we’re trying to help him out. It’s a manual transmission, super fast car. When my friend told me the mileage I was surprised because of the performance the car shows, but then again it’s a car from the 80’s so I guess 140k isn’t bad, (like I said I know nothing about cars LOL)

Anybody know anything about 1980’s Porsche’s?

With a car like this there is no real 'book' value. It is almost totally down to condition and service history. Bodywork is most important. 911's rust just like any other car and there are lots of 'nook and crannies' on a Porsche chassis to harbour mud and damp which turns to rust. A profesional engine rebuild could cost £8,000.

If this car is rusty, doggy and drives like a pig with no history it could be worth £10,000 if its an immaculate one owner car, rare model with a full service history it could be worth £75,000

    It really is that extreem.

Not knowing the exact model other than 911 it is worth around $64,000 retail in excellent condition. Go here and put in all pertinent information to get a better idea. https://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/1984/Porsche/911-C...

Yes. Great cars - prone to some degree of rust. Take it to a Porsche dealer and ask them to check for rust.

i know he doesn't drive it anymore because he is scared that something will finally give out and cost more then the car is worth to fix.

after 140 k many parts have already exceeded their life expectancy.they are really cheap for just that reason.avoid it.
