Usps package delivery late?

I ordered a package on December 5th, 2020. It is coming from Illinois to South Carolina. It traveled to a distribution center in Iowa and then updated that it arrived in Memphis Tennessee on December 13th. My package was suppose to arrive the 11th. I fully understand with Covid and the amount of shipments so many people are ordering. I was just concerned that it has said “arriving late in transit” since the 13th and has no USPS updates since. I called USPS a few days ago and they said it left the Memphis Tennessee area but my tracking doesn’t show that and still keeps saying “in transit” with no other updates for about 6 days. How would I know if USPS lost my package? I know it is late due to covid and I am understanding of that. I was just wondering why it wouldn’t update any tracking info? How would I know if my package was lost? I would be completely understanding if they did lose my package because I could only imagine the amount of packages they have. I am just curious if anyone had any answers my issue. Thank you

My packages are all over the place. One said it wouldn’t be delivered until 12/29. My mom got it last Thursday.  I mailed a card from Chicago to Kentucky and it too over two weeks.   I order two ornaments for friends who live about five miles from each other. One got her gift a day earlier the other one doesn’t even have a delivery date as yet. Many of my orders have not updated. Then just show up

I fully understand with Covid and .........

EVERYONE is having a difficult time during the pandemic.

I was just concerned that it has said “arriving late in transit”

SERIOUSLY which part of the word LATE do you not understand?

How would I know if USPS lost my package?

YOU WILL NOT they do not dispatch staff to report your package is "missing"

I know it is late due to covid and I am understanding of that.

GOOD for you MILLIONS of others are waiting for their packages too.

I was just wondering why it wouldn’t update any tracking info?

    BECAUSE IT DID NOT

Your item is waiting on a truck to be unloaded scanned and sorted for the next leg of its journey. Scanning never was 100% accurate and some miss the scanners.

NO SHIPPER be it FedEx UPS or the Post Officer has a desire to pile up parcels to see who has the biggest pile. King of the mountain is a preschooler's game.

Of course we all know USPS sorters have magic cars that can get through blocked roads closed to everyone else because of storms.

It is a busy time. BE PATIENT

Of course if some  hospital NEEDS delivery of urgent supplies would you be willing to wait a little more for your item?

MILLIONS of others are waiting join the line and be patient.

Right now, there are a massive number of packages in the system. Delivery delays are not unusual. In transit means that it's theoretically moving from one distribution center to another. You won't get another update until it arrives somewhere where it can be scanned. You just have to be patient at this time of year.

FWIW, items in shipment aren't usually updated until they are processed at the facilities.

I feel for you, I had the same thing happen last week.

Just remember, with most buyers shopping on-line for Christmas there will be a backlog.

You need to sit back and relax.  You'll get your package soon enough.  ; ' )

    Merry Christmas!
