Why Do I Have a Sewer Smell in My Home?
Have you noticed an unpleasant odor drifting through your home? You didn’t burn dinner. You just cleaned the house. Still, for some reason, your home smells like the sewer. You can try to cover up the stench with scented candles, but this probably isn’t the best solution.

If it's a smell of pee, it could be mice.

It appears you have a sewage leak from a bathroom or your sewage pipe. You really need to get this checked out A.S.A.P. before it does a lot of damage.

A sewage smell in-house is usually a sign that your sewage treatment system has been damaged or has not received proper maintenance. Some of the following causes might be responsible and are worth checking first: P-trap: the drains of your toilets, shower, all have a P-trap (a curved part of pipe) that holds water.

Dry traps in floor drains are a very common way sewer smells get in the house. Make sure you pour water in them at least monthly.
