It seems that you are inexperienced. That is fine: we all were at some point. I think it would be better to get some practice playing lower stakes online before playing for hundreds or thousands of dollars. 

Do the math: If you put $200 on the table per week, and you lose every time, your $2000 is gone in 10 weeks. Right? That's the worst case scenario, but it still possible isn't it.

Any player could lose it all before the end of the year.  

When I've played 1/2 at the casino, I've bought in for 100-150 and done okay.  The trick is reading the table.  If too many pre-flop raisers, you'll have to play tight, or you won't be there 4 hours.  Or better yet, switch tables.

If you're a roughly break-even player or slight winner then it easily might last the year if you're only playing one night per week. It also might not; the best player in the world could have a 2k downswing at 1/2 because that's poker. Another option is to play online, where you can get the same quality of practice for a hundredth of the cost.

You also don't have to buy in for 200. Buying in shorter would make your 2k more likely to last, not only due to the smaller all-in risk but also,shorter stacks don't require as much skill. 150 would make more sense until your bankroll is less small, or even 100 if you keep it topped off between hands. But I understand if you want to practice playing 100bb+, which allows you more options and forces you to think more about bet-sizing and multi-street strategy.
