next cicada invasion in chicago?

when will be another cicada emerge? it’s confusing because they was in the Chicago area last year and some people said more will come again this year but I heard till 2024.

According to the Chicago Botanic Garden web site, most of the northern Illinois cicadas are of the 17 year variety. Since the last eruption happened in 2007, the next emergence should occur in 2024.
