They are not even remotely related. The do not belong to the same language families. Amharic is in the Afro-Asiatic family and English in the Indo-European family. They also do not share a writing system. Amharic is written in Ge'ez script and English in Roman. Plus in Amharic the written system is made up of characters called abugida and not individual letters as in English.

Not much. They belong to two different language families. Amharic belongs to the Afroasiatic language family, while English belongs to the Indo-European language family.

They are both considered Indo-European languages, so there is a link somewhere, but it is pretty distant.
