Does Canada still have gun ownership rights to citizens  ?

Gun ownership has never been a right in Canada, but a privilege. Handguns have to be registered since 1934. Since 1979, anyone wanting to purchase a firearm has to file in a request first.

And for the "wolfram" bozo below: it is NOT useless, since anyone in possession of a firearm would have to show that it is legitimate ownership. Being in possession of an unregistered firearm is, in itself, a prosecutable crime.

yes, you can buy and a gun in Cantada, but it must be registered with the government, a COMPLETELY USELESS step, since most guns used in crime are unregistered anyway, and can only  be "singe action"

You can still buy a gun, it has to be registered with the government. Firearms are federally regulated in Canada. The federal 1977 Criminal Law Amendment Act, as amended, prohibits automatic weapons and sawed-off shotguns and rifles.
