How is the SRT-4 faster than a Ford Mustang?

I've seen so many races between the SRT-4 and the Ford Mustang and the Mustangs always lose.  Supposedly they have a V8 but they can't keep up with a 4 cylinder?  The SRT-4 is fast, I mean, faster than a 350Z, S2000, WRX, and any Honda, but those all have less than 8 cylinders.  Ford has no real excuses to be so slow.

    Stock for stock SRT-4 can beat  the 2 valve New Edge Mustangs and runs almost even with the 3 valve S197's. But will lose to Coyote powered (2011+) Mustangs.  

    Mod'd ones can be faster obviously. If you saw a modified SRT-4 going up against a stock Mustang, then you're comparing oranges to apples. But you're just trolling anyway.

    1. Modern engines don't use "chips" for ECU tuning.

    2. They certainly did not need to invent a new dyno for the Road Runner V8.It made ~444 HP, there were dozens of cars produced around the same time that made more power. 

    3. The Coyote isn't a European engine, it's an evolution of the modular V8's Ford has been using for decades. It was designed in the U.S. and built in Canada.

    The MUSTANG engine is UNREAL with HP when tuned PROPERLY and a POWER CHIP is installed It is a PRODUCT of EUROEPAN GENIUSES andhas VARIABLE VALVE TIMIING and MULTIPLE VALVES in it! My old BOSS MUSTANG was GOD AWFUL in turns nd grip, but STRAIGHT LINE was UNREAL with 365 HP under the hood from a 302 that was Properly TUNED by ME! IT did 12 sec in the quarter  mile! great FOR THAT TIME!  R TODAY there is STIL PRESURE to keep EMISSIONS LOWEST< and there are TRICK CHIPS that WIL get more power! The MUSTANG< of course, is a HEAVIER CAR and It features the AUDI type DOUBLE CONTROL ARM front suspension that GRIPS GRIPS GRIPS like ROAD GLUE! It WILL Outhandle the SRT-4 most likely, but the SRT_4 is SO much LIGHTER!  IF This really TURNS YOU ON< try your SRT-$ against a POWER TUNED TURBO AUDI and see what happens. In a WAY this kind of thing is RIDICULOUS! No matter HOW FAST your car is, there will always be ANOTHER one even FASTER and BETTER! aa TWIN TURBO STRAIGHT SIX BMW is QUITE awesome and the POWER is not LINEAR it is EXPONENTIAL! BYE NOW. THE NEWEST MUSTANG BOSS 302 is SO powerful they had to INVENT a NEW type of DYNOMOMETER to test it!  I think it has 505 HP and has TRI K exhausts! It is a WONDER how when ANY large car company can make cars with SO MUCH updated technol ogy! My old BOSS was SUPERB with KNITTED VINYL SEATS and TONS of power but it did NOT come with HEADERS or VARIABLE VALVE TIMING or other GREAT items like OIL TENSIONED chain tensioners, etc! There is MORE to a CAR than the QUICKNESS! There is SAFETY and VALUE and of course the BEST  CARS like the AUDI TURBO have QUATTRO or other AWD systems for GRIP and CONTROL! SAME for the BMW xDRIVEs The SRT is kinda a FAST JOKE in a way! The MUSTANG is more like a LUXURY car than the SRT-4 and then there is the HIGH HP FORD FOCUS making 333 + HP from a TURBO FOUR banger and the FORD engines can TAKE IT! A TURBO AWD car ios the BEST there is next to a SLOT CAR!

    It does not matter.  My Tesla smokes all of them.  And all the drivers are like wtf.  It is so lovely seeing the faces of drivers of Mustangs and Camaros and Challengers getting smoked by an electric vehicle.

    My WRX is quicker than all but the latest 5.0 V8 Mustangs. (2015 on)

    Mustangs are heavy and probably don’t have good handling compared to other cars. Which is probably a big factor. I’ve seen 300 hp 350z’s smoke them. Mustangs can be fast, but with a lot of money. Basically any car can be fast.

    The 2004 Mustang GT had 260 hp engine while the SRT-4 had 230 (official value, independent measurement hints that it might have been underquoted).

    The difference is slim, but the Mustang 3347 lb curb weight was a bit more than the SRT-4 2900 lb, meaning that the Mustang had each of its HP haul 12.87 pounds, while the SRT-4 had only 12.61. That is close, but there is an edge.

    Add to this less than ideal gear shifting, the fact that the fuel might not be the best, plus the extra unannounced power in the SRT-4, and that could be enough.
