R&P- looking back, what has been among your favourite memories on your time on Y!A?

I'm going to cite time spent reading responses from the great man David V. and learning from him how to treat people right on here an din life. What about you?

Update:

I get that Joey. It rally seemed with every "update" the Y!A team were deliberately trying to lose their user base. Lol- I saw Y!A offering "100points if you joined today", a week before announcing they were closing down :)

Update 2:

Smiley's answer didn't show up- but just beautiful stuff! I post it here:

My wife and I met here in 2007 (PinkFloyd-1962). We've been together since March 2009. At the time we were living in different countries and 5,000 km apart. In 2007 someone asked a question; "Can you name a band you're fairly certain nobody else in R&P has heard of?" My answer was "Bijelo Dugme"....

Update 3:

...

A user named PinkFloyd-1962 left an edit within her answer explaining how she was very familiar with that band and owned several of their albums (as did I). From that point onward we followed each other on Y!A and Yahoo 360 and discovered we had a lot in common.

We spent countless hours Skyping during our free time. In 2009 she came to Canada  for an intended 2 week visit. This turned into a 6 month visa by which point we were in love. From there permanent residency and eventually...

Update 4:

... Canadian Citizenship. We were married in 2011.

I started frequenting Y!A in 2006 and was a regular in the R&P section up until 2011. By that point I pretty much stopped coming altogether as did my wife. Far too much finger pointing, drama, users with multiple accounts, trolling, etc. For the last few months I've poked my head in now and then to answer a few questions. From what I've seen I'm not surprised Y!A is shutting down.

Update 5:

Likewise Dominique!

Update 6:

Always Brother Staap!

Update 7:

Staap It! You really know how to mix up the music my friend and somehow manage to get in a good yarn at the same time! I always looked forward to seeing ol' Popcorn's face on the answer list because I knew i'd have some great listening coning up. Thanks for the music and fun times friend- i'll be thinking of you and diving for cover next time a "flying potato" hits my cans!

Well sir, my thing is that I enjoyed sharing music we find with each other. I do this with folks all over the world as you know. I have made one "virtual" friend from this section, one from another section. We email a couple times a week for about 4 or 5 years now.

Isn't it remarkable how when we can have contact, some become friends ?

You know I always considered YOU among my favorites I met here Livin.

Stay safe brother Livin, take care of yourself and your other friends.

I do have a Yahoo email shown in profile if you or others wish to say HI once in a while. I am going to miss the fun we have had here. Certainly will grin as I spin something y'all have shared with me. I will think of you as I do. We have been through allot together.

My favorite memories is the barrage of dumbest answers even though I didn't really use this site much.

I haven't posted on here in a long, long time. It's been at least seven years since I've even logged on. I know this is a generic response, but I miss the small community that was on here when I was active.

A user here named a super-obscure song for me that I'd only heard once and spent over twenty years looking for. I had asked about it on YA before - as well as many other places around the web -- but with no luck. I had basically resigned myself to never finding the name. But I decided to ask one more time, just for the hell of it, and lo and behold, I got an answer. Dude totally made my day. I played that song over and over half an hour straight that night.

I will remember all the FUN user games in the green days,  like   "Say something abouts the user above and below you." ......when you would get FUNNY answers-  and everyone would laugh and joke with no rancor.

If ya tried that *now*  , all you'd get is  a bunch of vile troll crap-

    Smiley's answer is awesome.

I don't have one particular favorite memory, but I have enjoyed "discovering" music I probably would never have heard of otherwise. You're definitely one of my favorite users. You are very open to new music, which most of the users here are not. I've gotten some music suggestions from you that I love, and you're probably the friendliest user I've come across. You will be missed!

The sense of community in this section a few years back. There used to be a strong group of regular users (Suicidal Ice Cream Truck, Patrick Kruspe (sp?) among others. You would always get good & detailed answers. I remember fondly all the 'Bonus Questions' from the regulars and the games too.

My favourite memory was hanging out with all the users who left when Yahoo got rid of the green version of the site. I miss emailing other users and actually getting a smile from this site.
