Can I put twice the amount of high efficiency laundry detergent in my washing machine??

I have a older washing machine which is non-high efficiency.  The issue is it's very difficult to find non high efficiency laundry detergent so most of it is high efficiency nowadays.  I find HE soap and HE washing machines don't get clothes very clean.  Since my washer is old one will putting twice as much laundry detergent really work.

    never use double detergent

read the box, use half less than the recommended amount.

Have you tried reading the label on your detergent? The label on mine gives directions for the amounts required for HE washers and regular washers. Regular washers use more.

Using more than 2 tablespoons of ANY detergent in a ANY washer will merely destroy the clothes and the washer faster as well as pollute the environment

You can't find regular detergent?  Stores by my have shelves full of the stuff.  Look closer. The high efficiency stuff is more expensive and using twice as much will hurt your wallet.

I was visiting some friends who had a top load washer...

They told me to do that also ...it was about 2x the amount as a front load.

The reason is → front loads use considerable less water.
