How many bananas do you buy at a time to assure they get eaten and not go bad before your next shopping trip?

Update:

I am going to dial down to 3 or 4 myself as I want no more throwing out the 5 or 6 that got too mushy, spotty, yucky before I go out and by another bunch of 10.  :)

There's no such thing as a bad banana!  They just move closer to their destiny as banana bread or banana tapioca pudding (simmer the mashed banana with the milk to flavour it, then strain or not according to preference, turn pieces of fresh orange into the finished pudding).  Since I've discovered yeasted banana bread as sandwich bread I go hunting for the sad looking bananas.

I buy about 7.  If they go too bad I make banana bread.

We usually by 5 or 6. 1 or 2 usually starts getting bad, but I'm the one who usually still eats it before it goes completely bad. Sometimes, dad would chop it up in his cereal or mom would put it in a blender for a smoothie.

Four or five at a time. No more.
