prodrome herpes symptoms?!?

I was diagnosed with HSV1 but in the genital region in 2018.  For the first outbreak and from all that I have read I had it easy mostly annoying and little to no pain.  It is now 2021 and have had no pop ups since.  But for the past 6 days I've had prodrome symptoms (itchy and tingling in the spots from my first outbreak). Everything I've read says within hours or a day or 2 the itching and tinkling turns into sores but I am now on day 6 and still no sores but the itching and tinkling are still going strong. Has anyone experienced this? I'm starting to feel like the sores are not coming which I'm happy about but how long will the prodrome stage last for because its really annoying.  I'm taking my normal 5 days of medication and I'm not sure why the symptoms aren't progressing through the cycle.  I've read people have had prodrome symptoms for months even on medication and I'm not sure what to do.  If its been over a week can I still be contagious cause by then a normal reoccurrence outbreak would be on the way to being over.

I've had that happen, usually when I'm very stressed out. But I'm not taking medication. Herpes break outs can vary from person to person that has herpes.

If you're taking medication that can help prevent break outs from happening. You can still get symptoms if you took the medication after the symptoms started. I've had that happen too. You're contagious while you have any signs or symptoms of a break out.
