I used to like it when I was growing up, but its a bit too childish for me nowadays.  However, as an adult, I do notice that the rich hillbillies seem to be unaware that many of their new "friends" only like them for their wealth.  As such, I sometimes feel a bit sorry for the characters, because they're bound to be taken advantage of.

    Sucks, stupid..

My daddy also hated any show that made any country folk look like ignorant hillbillies.

Edit: Green Acres at least had Actors. Arnold acted belter than most of the humans.

I prefer The Real McCoys. Similar concept, but IMO funnier.

I was never a big fan and much preferred its "cousin" show "Green Acres"...

On a similar note, I never liked "The Munsters" but "The Addams Family" remains one of my favorite TV classics.

Both "Hillbillies" and "Munsters" feature main characters who are exaggerated caricatures trying to act "normal" .... The lead characters in "Addams Family" and "Acres" appear "normal" so their eccentricities and "fish out of water" comedy are more dependent on quality writing and acting that "sight gags"...

The Tv Show was a classic. !  I always loved that Jed just stayed true to himself , despite all the money.

It was funny but the show itself went on for too long.
