What does deep fill on a washing machine mean?
The only thing I wash in hot water are the bath towels and wash cloths and the dish towels and dish rags. The only reason I do that is because they inevitably get funky, in the case of bath towels which people seem to like to hoard in their room after use, and filthy, in the case of dish towels that they like to wipe up spills or wipe dirty hands on. They would probably get plenty clean enough if I didn’t but it is just one of those extra steps I take to make sure.
I swear one roommate thinks his clothes get dirty if he hasn’t washed them in the last week. Ok it isn’t that bad but if he has worn them for even 5 minutes they go in the dirty clothes whether he got them dirty or not. He wears out his clothes washing and drying them.

Deep fill means the washer fills with more water. Modern washers tend to be made to be energy and water efficient and don't use much water. I use deep fill for ALL my laundry as it's easier on the clothes and my washer is almost like an extractor, it REALLY agitates hard and if it's a full load with just the regular amount of water it seems the clothes are just sloshing about in a dampened state.
Different people have different ideals of cleanliness. I will rarely wear something for more than a day, if I do it's strictly an outerwear like a shirt, jacket or sweater worn over another shirt. Jeans I can occasionally wear for 2 days depending on what I'm doing. I like my clothing and especially my bedding, to be very very clean all the time.
Twice I've had ... hygenically challenged housemates and it was a real trial for me. These pretty filthy women moved into my very clean home and ... rarely showered or changed their bedding. One of them would wear the same clothes for days at a time, including to sleep in, and her 7 year old son who was at the house half time and slept in her bed with her (because his top bunk was piled with crap) was a bed wetter so he'd pee on her clothes and she'd keep wearing them with dried pee on them. The other one washed her bedding once in the year she lived in my home. Both of them had bedrooms that smelled so much like dirty human that I couldn't use the living room myself because their rooms opened off of it and reeked so bad. Fortunately I had a private art studio where I spent most of my home time.

90% of people are washing clothes wrong which is why they quickly fade and fall apart.
You should never use more than 2 tablespoons of detergent for a full load in a home washer.
Any more than that and you are destroying the clothes, washer, and the environment.
And washing in hot water also fades clothes quickly and does nothing to "sanitize" things.
Hot water is never more than 140 degrees so it's impossible that it would kill anything.
It's the much hotter DRYER temperatures that actually sanitize the clothes.
And "deep fill" is just putting more water in the washer.
The save the planet goofs are another reason clothes never get fully rinsed of soaps chemicals, and dyes
