  • 1099 Contractor vs employee question?

Hello. I currently work as a 1099 contractor for a satellite installation company. I am also a manager for them. They pay me an amount every two weeks to show up at the shop between 6:30 and 7:30 am to assign gear out to the techs. I have several other duties such as taking pictures of the tech's work, answering the phone calls, and sometimes having to go out and help the techs (< these 3 things are not part of my question though) I also have to count the warehouse every monday and send my boss an email by 8am that day. I also am forced to be on a conference call at 10am every tuesday morning with satellite representatives. On top of this I also go out and run my own satellite installation route. I am now being required to send an email to my bosses assistant every morning by 10am explaining in great detail what I have done the previous day. Things included in this email would be activites for the day and phone calls made to people about getting more work for the techs and what those people said to me when I asked for more work.

To me more than 90 percent of this email screams employee and not contractor...am I correct to assume this? And if so if I refuse to complete the daily log and I am let go what do I do?

  • I'm trying to buy a house and we didn't close on the 28th of june like it says so now we want to back out

Our house was supposed to be closed on the 28th of june, my loan officer says we need to sign the extension or there will be litigations...for what?.....If we were supposed to close on the 28th and it's past that date isn't the contract void? We weren't told anything about interest rate or payments they have just been plugging numbers haven't sent to the underwriters yet. Right now we are renting the propery with a month to month lease. If we signed the extension it will be for sep 30th, which means more months of high dollar rent. My fiancee need deferment letter from her college loans, about 10, she can't get those letter until september, but the loan officer wants her to apply for early deferment just for those 2 months so we can buy the house... but that program for deferment i'm pretty sure she can only use once...so what if we need it when the college loan are due....then we can't ask for deferment again. We do not want the property anymore. How can I back out?
