  • Who are the commentators at the Auckland live feed (Peng-Rezai match) right now?

Man and woman commentator. Woman seems Aussie or Kiwi, but the man has a different accent... I cannot place it but I think he is a former pro.

  • How cold is too cold to have the cat outside?

My cat was a stray this spring, so she spent all her time outdoors. When I took her in, in the summer, she started spending about half her time inside, and half outside (plus overnight inside every night). Now that it's cold out, she doesn't want to go out much any more. But I still want her to spend some time outdoors. I was thinking about 2 hours outside in the daytime, and 1 hour outside in the evening, throughout the winter.

Is that too much for her to be outside? How cold can it get, before it's cruel for the cat to be outside? For example, it's probably around 40 degrees right now - can she be out for 2 hours and not be a problem, other than she would prefer to be warmer? What if it's 30 degrees? What if it's 20 degrees? I probably wouldn't put her out if it's below freezing. So, is it fair to say she can be outside for a few hours as long as it's above freezing?

  • I have been contacted by a Customs Broker who cleared my package (UK to USA) and wants reimbursement?

I have been contacted by a Customs Broker who cleared my package (UK to USA) and wants reimbursement.

I ordered some clothing from a website in the UK. I waited two weeks for the package - we thought it was lost - but finally I received a call (voicemail) from somebody at a company near the airport who claims that his company "cleared the package" and paid the duty, and they want me to call them to reimburse them, then I guess they will send my package on to me.

I've looked into this quite a bit already on the internet, and it does seem that I owe the duty. The value of the clothing is just over USD$300. But I've never done this before. My questions are:

Who is this company (well, I figured out who they are, but more specifically....) how did they get their hands on my package? Why did it go to them, to pay the duty?

What happens if I don't pay the duty?

About how much will I be charged? Is it Duty plus a Fee for them? Any idea how much the Fee is (if any)? Is the Duty charged on all $300 value, or only on the amount over the duty-free amount ($200) which leaves $100? There was no mention of sales tax... will that be charged as well?

How will they want the payment - what form?

  • Who is the young man that Missing Baby Lisa's mom was at the grocery store with?

Who is the young man that Missing Baby Lisa's mom was at the grocery store with?

I saw this in a video, but no news source is stating who this man is. I am just curious because he has not been identified; not thinking he is involved.

  • What Email Application?

What Email Application for my Laptop?

On my old laptop (and my old job) I used Microsoft Outlook. That was great. But I don't have Microsoft Office on my Laptop. (I might buy Microsoft Office, but I'll probably use OpenOffice or LibreOffice instead.)

So on my current Laptop, I was using Windows Mail. I thought it was OK, but certain features I wished I could do more with.

Then I had a computer problem and they gave me a new system board, so all my email is gone, and I am free to "start over" with Windows Mail or use something else.

What I've been doing up to now is using Webmail: this means I am accessing my mail server directly on the web, and reading mail, replying, deleting, etc. right there. I am ready to stop doing this and start downloading my mail to an email application now.

    So, what are my options?

    1. Buy Microsoft Office and use Outlook

    2. Use Windows Mail

    3. Is there a mail application in OpenOffice or LibreOffice? I did not see one.

    4. What other options are there? What are people using?

  • My computer has a 60 day trial version of Microsoft Office 2007?

My computer has a 60 day trial version of Microsoft Office 2007. I haven't used it yet, so I'll have 60 days from the time I first use it (I think). I will need this software, or I can download OpenOffice... I am still deciding.

    So I have these questions:

    1. After the 60 days, how much will it cost to "buy" the official software?

    2. If I do that, I guess it will happen online?

    3. Then does my trial version somehow convert to a real version? In other words, I won't have to download things or reinstall, just continue using what I have?

    4. Shouldn't I have a newer version of Office? If I "buy" this online after the trial, would I get the newer version or just a real license for 2007?

    5. Would it be best to start with a newer version and not do this trial for 2007? How much does that cost?

    6. Do you think OpenOffice is almost as good and I should just go with that instead (it is free)?

    Thanks for any knowledgeable help.

  • What's a good way to organize photos and videos on my computer?

I've never been happy with the way I organized my photos and videos. I've done things like: put then in My Pictures, make folders by date, upload some to Flickr (but I didn't have a good organization, then I ran out of space without paying more), put a few on Facebook, etc. The videos are being loaded into some folders automatically by my Flip. I've uploaded one or two to Facebook. None of it has ever seemed very cohesive or user-friendly to me.

Have an of you worked out a plan for videos and photos that you want to share? I'm not looking for a simple answer, but an actual organizational plan that is organic, allows me to start with what I have and grow it as needed, and sensible for me as both an organizer and file-sharer.

  • Just got an HP Touchpad - never had a tablet before - going on vacation - what should I do with it?

OK I just got my HP Touchpad and I've never had a tablet before. (And I don't have a "smartphone" or anything like that.) So I don't know a thing about what I can do with the tablet. And I don't know what I should do to prepare (like download apps, files, etc.)

It just arrived yesterday and is still in the box.

What I *think* I can do with it is possibly: use like a Kindle (which I've not used before either so will need to learn), maybe watch movies, listen to music, browse the web.

I'm going on vacation, so think that the tablet will be great to have for the plane, hotel, bus rides, etc. But what exactly are my top things to do with it? And should I be downloading apps (if that's even the right question to ask(, or what?

  • Mother's time to focus away from a two year old?

My friend has a two year old. I was invited over today, and it was between his naptime (after he got up) and the family dinner time... I guess about a two hour period. She has not other kids, and the boy is a normal, healthy kid. I found she is constantly distracted by and interacting with her child. Is this normal? It was really not possible to have a conversation that lasted more than 30 seconds, because there is a constant back and forth of her giving a toy to him, or saying something to him, or looking at what he is doing, or him coming up to her to ask for something or to show her something, etc. He doesn't do anything on his own, it's a continual back and forth with his mom, and she is constantly minding him with only a matter of seconds to take her mind off him before he is back to her or she is doing something with him. Is this normal? I would have thought that the child could be given a toy which he would play with for some time while we are nearby, or put in a sandbox right next to us, or sit on her lap calmly for some time. But that is not the case here. Thoughts?

  • Where's my regular Google?

I have been using regular Google for many years and now it's changed and I don't like it!

When I enter google.com in the search bar, and press enter, the url changes to:

    http://www.google.com/ig?hl=en&aig=0&reason=1

It says iGoogle and it says I am "logged out" and "Sign in to see your stuff".

I don't want to sign in, but I want just plain old Google.

How can I get regular Google back?

  • HP Laptop... sometimes it seems to get stuck in sleep mode.......?

I have an HP Laptop (Pavilion dv6) an here is aproblem I am having. I close the lid then later when I open the lid in order to use it again, the screen stays black. All the lights on teh keyboard are still lit up and the fan works, but I cannot seem to get the screen to light up. If I do a hard shutdown, or even remove the battery and plug, once I start it up again it just goes back into this mode. I now feel lucky - when that happens - to even be able to do anything with it! I was lucky tonight I got it to boot up instead of go into that weird mode. What is going on?

  • Icy Lemonade Drink to make?

I want to make a drink that's like the icy strawberry lemonade they sell at McDonald's or Panera.

I want to freeze it, then bring it to my sports event so that it melts outside for about an hour, then is partially still icy, but drinkable, and tastes perfectly delicious.

I want to do some tests and samples to get it just right. For starters, I bought some Minute Maid Lemonade and some Minute Maid Fruit Punch. Mixed it half and half and now it 's freezing.

But I think I'll just have a solid block of frozen drink with liquid around the edges. How can I get it to be more mixed icy when it melts?

And what would make it taste a little bit better.... can you think of some additional ingredients to add?

  • New Cat..... she makes a sound I've not heard....?

This is a new stray cat that I've taken in. I only have had one other cat, so I don't know a lot about cats. This new cat will make a certain sound. She does it when she is lying on the couch next to me. She will open her mouth and keep it open and tilt her head back a bit, then a sound comes from her mouth. It sounds sort of like a raspy purr, maybe like what a broken fan would sound like.... kind of rhythmical but also rough. Not smooth like a regular purr. And her mouth is open the entire time. Is this a special kind of purring that this new cat does, that my other cat never does? Or what is it?

  • Stray cat... wants petting... but it drools....?

I have a stray cat that I pet every day. I just discovered today that it drools when I pet it. I tried wiping its lips with a towel but I cannot see doing that on an ongoing basis. Reading lots of questions/answers here, everybody is saying this is normal and the cat his happy and just enjoy it, etc. But... I don't like the drool and if I take the cat in, I don't think I will be satisfied having this drool as an ongoing issue for years to come. I am surprised that people take it in stride What am I missing to think like everybody else? I am now thinking I cannot take this cat in because of the drooling.

  • Windows Mail... how do I get some Contacts to not appear every time I go into the "To" box?

Using Windows Mail... how do I get some Contacts to not appear every time I go into the "To" box?

I have a lot of people in my Contacts list. They all got there by me sending them an email at one time or another. I would like to keep all them as Contacts, but I want to pare down the list that appears when I address an email by going to the To box to select names.

So.... I choose Tools, Contacts and created subfolders, and put many people into subfolders, thinking that only those left in the main directory would appear as selections in the To box when addressing. But NO! They all still appear!

So... how can I keep all these names/addresses, but put them in the background so I don't need to see/bypass them every time I want to address an email?

  • A lot of times I feel like I need more volume with my computer?

Sometimes I have the video turned all the way up, and my computer volume turned all the way up, and the sound is only light. There are other times when I can put the video all the way up and my computer volume in the middle. (My computer is a HP laptop.)

What I want to know is.... what do I do if both are at max and the sound is too low? Is there a way to adjust it upward? Would an external speaker help? (And what kind?)

  • USTA computerized tennis rankings... when do they update?

I have a USTA ranking that was given by the computer... I started out at one level and evenutally the computer moved me up based on my results in league play. Now I am about to join a league and play another season. Will the computer wait til the end of this league season to move me up (if I do well)? Or does it move people up as soon as they start doing well, in the middle of a league season? I guess the second case would not work, because people could be ranked too high to finish out their season. But, I'm just wondering WHEN the rankings are done by the USTA computer.
