Do I have to pay twice if I enter the UK on a fiancee visa?

My boyfriend (UK and French citizen) and I (US citizen) have decided to get married. The problem is figuring out where to do so as quickly as possible. If I enter the UK on a fiance visa, do I have to pay another fee when applying for further leave to remain as a spouse? Or would it just be cheaper to enter on a spousal visa?

you can only enter the UK on a fiance visa if your b/f is living here and can establish that he is settled here and working too. Assuming this is the case then yes you will have to pay a further (substantial) fee when you apply for the spouse visa. Yes it would be cheaper for you to enter as a spouse initially but that means that you would need to marry elsewhere (perhaps France or USA). I am an immigration solicitor (lawyer). yes u do and it can take a while i am having the same trouble as my gf is japanese we are finding it easier to get married in japan than here as i just need a cni from . if u come in on a fiancee visa u dont need to get another one to get married u just have to tehn apply for leave to remain in the uk and he has to show he can support u as u cant work in the uk for a period of time. u have to also apply for this all in your own country. regards terry u can get married in spain however with out needing a visa but u both have to apply for cni forms at the embassy to show u are not married before. however, u will still have to apply for leave to remain in the uk at the ebassy in the usa. regards terry
