Opening A French Bank Account?
Does anyone know how to open a French bank account without being resident there? I fly to Paris most weekends and will eventually be moving there permanently next year. So I want to get a Bank Account set up now before I leave so I can start building savings.
I have heard about the CA Britline one, but that one is no good for me. Does anyone know how I can open one while still resident in Ireland?
When I go to Paris on the weekends it does be on a Friday afternoon and I leave Paris on a Sunday afternoon. Some banks are open on Saturday but I do not have time to be getting the account set up as if you want a non resident account you need to arrange a meeting with a advisor, which in most cases only meet on a weekday. This is why I need to be able to open one from my home country.

Try asking that question on the Paris forum of tripadvisor.com. You have to sign up to have a user name but it is free. There are expatriates there who have gone through the process of opening bank accounts and they can direct you to the best way to handle something like this. Be sure to specify how strong you are in the French language.
There is an expat newsletter that comes out of the telegraph newspaper, I think, which is a newspaper in the U.K. that you might be familiar with. I get the newletter online and it has various 'mentors' for different cities. Paris is definitely one of the cities! These mentors can answer any kind of question you have. There are many Brits who retire to different countries and they use the expat newletter to 'keep up' with home and abroad issues.
Good luck! tripadvisor has a wonderful online community for travel and visiting and renting apartments in Paris - and the expat newletter will give you very direct and specific information.

If you fly to Paris most weekends, you will probably get better answers by walking into a bank next time you are there.
