Need menstration expert for a question, seeking qualified individuals.?

I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about most things, but I think my lack of eperience with menstration leaves me unable to answer. My wife told me she's a bit worried because her period started and then soon after, mysteriously buggered off. She's on birth control but shes up in a tizzy about being pregnant. Is this sort of thing at least occasionally common, or should I go ahead and tell the kids they got incoming?

Update:

You girls are all awesome. Very willing to offer your help and no poking fun. You don't get a lot of that in other places in Yahoo answers. Apparently her recurring visitor has come out of hiding. In case you were curious, it went something like, 1 day on, 2 days off, and then started again. Usually its 5 days exactly, every time. I suppose every now and again you throw a curve?

There are times where periods just go "wacky". Tell your wife not to worry, having a period for just a couple of days, is still a period. She may even have another one before her next cycle is due. Many factors can mess up a woman's cycle.. stress being one, weight gain, other medication, etc. I would definitely NOT tell the other kids there are incoming.

    Negative!

I think your wife will be fine, but just in-case you might want to stop at the local store and buy a pregnancy test.

Women take birth control pills for many different reasons depending on the name and brand of the drugs. Birth control pills have been known to start and stop cycles and make them irregular. Then again at the same time it could also turn an irregular menstrual cycle into a normal well flowing one.

My advice, look up the birth control she takes on a reliable website such was webmd.com, search for adverse reactions specifically, and follow up with your family doctor.

    Hope this helped!

If she is on birth control medication and she had a short period, I would not be concerned. That is one of the benefits of birth control is a shorter period. However, if she is worried then she needs to either call the doctor or take a home pregnancy test.

I have never heard this before. If she has been on birth control for a while then maybe her periods don't last that long, they usually don't with birth control. But to be absolutely sure then tell her to take a pregnanacy test, hopefully a blood one, to be more certain then just those peeing ones. Hope everything works out.

Stress and diet are two common reasons a woman's cycle can change. If you get your period and then it stops early, it doesn't mean you're pregnant. Pregnancy concernc should start when she is about a week LATE for her period. So, wait another few weeks to get a home pregnancy test.

Sometimes our bodies act crazy just for the heck of it. That could be the problem. However, you may want to have a pregnancy test done just to be sure.~

Have her take a pregnancy test. My friend was having light periods for two months, and she was pregnant and didn't know it.
