32 weeks pregnant and 3 centimeters dilated.....?

I went to my doc today and he said I was 3 centimeters dialated.

Apparently what I thought were typical pregnancy pressure and pains were really contractions. He put me on medicine to take 3 times a day to stop the contractions.

So, my question is:

Does anyone recall being 3 centimeters dialated and how long after did you go into labor?

Thanks in advance for your info :)

Update:

Thanks for your answers :)

My first was born at 36 weeks, my second at 34 weeks......and now I'm at 32 weeks. I'm so nervous.....I don't want him to arrive this early.

well, if you are taking the meds then hopefully that will stop your early labor. I was 3 cm for a couple of days, and then I went into labor and it was 24 hours after the contractions started. but I was 2 or 3 for a while...but its those contractions that they have to stop with the meds. good luck to you! put your feet up, and try to relax!

I was 32 weeks and had one tiny drop of blood but since I was carrying twins they thought they should check it out. I go to the hospital in no pain and they looked and I was 3 cm dilated and my contractions were 2 minutes apart and I didn't even know it! I was in the hospital for 2 days-had to take all that nasty magnesium medicine-and on bed rest for 3 weeks. My water broke after three weeks and so I was induced and delivered my boys. I think I might have gone longer but the events of September 11th made me very upset and I think that is why my water broke.

*One thing-I didn't realize my water had broke until the next morning. Since you are that dilated the baby's head will be right there so pay attention to any extra fluid or discharge no matter how small! Good luck

I was 3 centimeters dialated for 38 hours. Still didn't have the baby naturally and had to do a c-section.

Usually when you have a shortened cervix your surgeon will placed you on mattress relaxation and if that does not aid they'll admit you to the health center for slightly at the same time. It isn't individual to be dilated one million to one million one million/two the final couple of months of your being pregnant and your child to drop down into your pelvic field however when you have dropped to a lot it probably motive to fear. Talk for your surgeon the following time you pass to your appointment or name them now and allow them to understand what's going on. You do not desire to have the child too quickly. They desire you to a minimum of get to 36 weeks earlier than you pass into exertions. Good good fortune.

  • they day i was due i was 3cm dialated and 3hr later i was getting small contraction. 6 hrs later i gave birth to my beautiful little girl who is now 3weeks old. mind you my water was slightly broken 2 days before and on the day i was due i went to the hospital in the morning cause i thought i wet myself and thats when they told me they had to induce me cause i was 3m and my was slightly broken. I have friends who walked around for a couple months at 3 cm. I have other friends who were 9cm for a few weeks.

Dilation means nothing. I really wish doctors would quit acting like it really does.
