Exploding pigeons on train lines?

Is it true that pigeons explode if they land on the over head wires above a train line because of the high voltage? My friend insists its true but i thought electricity always took the easiest route e.g through the wire and not the pigeon. A sciency answer would be appreciated. Thanks x x

No they don't explode. You can see birds sitting on single power wires all over the place.
