96 honda accord CV joint disassembly?

I am working on a 96 accord and I have the axles completely out. I just don't know how to get the CV knuckle apart from the drive axle. Can anyone please help? Is it pressed on?

it would be easier to go to pep boys and buy a new 1/2 shaft for 75.00,rather than mess with trying to repair the old one.

Yup you can drive it but it will drastically cut the life of your CV joints and if the boots are gone than the CV joints most likely are not far behind. No it does not affect performance. Get the boots if you can afford it or the cost will be double to triple down the road. With regard to preparing for a road trip? Just check all your fluids, belts, tires (don’t forget the spare) and so forth replace or repair if need be. If it’s been a while since you had an oil change might as well do that, tire rotation wont hurt either.

I wouldnt bother with replaceing just the joint. Go ahead and replace the whole axle. It may end up costing a little more but you will be on the road faster and in the long run you mite save a little money. Like someone said befour their are clips on the end of the spline shaft and those are easy to damage.

There are some clips in there. I have never worked on this part on a Honda.

Auto-zone does not seem to be up, so I can't see if they have a manual.

But the link below might be of more help then either my information or auto-zones.
