What is causing my 7 month old to have hot red cheeks?

We took his temp and it is only 99.4, not too high. We took a walk today and it was windy and cold. He was in a sweater/hat/fleece and in a Bundle Me in his stroller. I am wondering if his cheeks could be bright red because he got wind burned? Also, he is teething (gums are swollen and teeth are about to break through any day). Could he get really flushed cheeks from teething? Or is he red from his slight fever? The other possibility is, he tried Gerber Organic Strawberries and Apples today for the first time. I have read that you should wait on strawberries but figured that Gerber wouldn't make it into a stage 2 food if it was so bad. Do you think red flushed cheeks can be an allergic reaction? So what is the most likely cause?

wind burn?

fever?

teething?

allergic reaction to strawberries?

Update:

I should add, no where else on his body feels even the slightest bit warm. And this has lasted now for 2 hours.

My bet is it's his little teeth causing the cheeks to be red and the slight temp. Give him some Tylenol before the pain starts.

If it was the food, he'd have some pretty bad diarrhea or a rash on the rest of his body.

Could be any of what you described. I would be leaning toward the fever and teething. Keep an eye on his fever. My son always gets red cheeks when he is getting sick.

Dont really think it is the strawberries, that would be a rash on his body or where the strawberries touched his body depending on how his body would react if he was allergic. Cant for the life of me figure out why they put strawberries in baby food.

Totally sounds like windburn. My son gets it too. Use Johnson and Johnson Soothing Naturals, Soothe and Protect Balm. Its awesome and smells good too. I put it on my son before we go out on cold/windy days to prevent windburn -- and it can help soothe their cheeks if they already have it. Its in a deodorant-shaped stick, I think the container is tan colored.
