Because Edward does not have an english accent so he had to drop it for the movie
he either had to take classes for that or taught himself how to drop it for the movie

He just uses and American accent for the movie. A lot of actors do that. Ever watch the show House? Hugh Laurie has a British accent also, but House doesn't.

Edward's character is not from Europe... Rob Pattinson is, so he had to have an American accent for the movie.

Because Edward lives in Washington and used to live in Alaska. So Rob had to try and speak in an American accent :)

Well some Americans do good British Accents, so i guess that some foreign accent countries could do a good American accent.

Because, in the book, Edward does not have an accent.
So he had to try and make it seem like he did not have an accent at all.
It slipped in though.
I heard it every once in a while. XD

because when he is acting he does and american accent. when you're an actor/actress you have to be able to do many different kinds of accents
