Any good ideas of how I can donate or recycle toys?

I have some star wars items and a Dora the Explorer play house, all of which are slightly worn, but still very usable. Goodwill no longer accepts toys (the whole toy recall thing made them change their policy), and I really don't know where to drop these items off anymore. Your ideas would be very welcome!

If you want to try to sell them have a yard sale. Or you could check out a local thrift shop or consignment shop.

If you want to donate them try the Salvation Army, or maybe a local church group.

Do you have any shelters in your area for homeless or battered women? They might love to take the toys for the children in the shelter that may have nothing.

Put them outside your home in a big box marked FREE.

Good luck in what you decide to do.

There is a site called freecycle.org. You can type in your area where you live and post the toys on there. This website does many things, one it helps people that are less fortunate and would love to have these toys for their children. Also, the site helps clean up the planet. Instead of things going and crowding up landfills, you can share your trash which most likely is someone Else's treasure. I promise that these things you have that you are interested in donating will go fast. I have witnessed many people being helped by this website. I myself have been helped a few times.

Well the Salvation Army probably wont take them either. I would donate them to friends or people that you know that have kids I think that is so crazy that these places can't take items like this for kids that cannot have them otherwise. The world is getting so crazy now a days. If things were made in America we would not have these problems.

Try Freecyle.com -- they likely have a yahoogroup for your city or town... I often pass along things I don't need anymore via freecyle... basically it is a place to give away items FOR FREE to list members who may be in need of items you have available.

You could also sell things via Craigslist.com or Ebay and donate the profits to charity.

Sometimes churches have drives for gently used toys to sell at church fairs for fund raisers... check with those in your community.

Try Toys for Tots or St. Vincent de Paul? Otherwise post an offer in your local freecycle chapter ( http://www.freecycle.org/ )

Try freecycle.com! It seems to be a great place to find people who need things. Plus it doesn't wind up in a landfill somewhere. & Who know's you might even find something there you can use too! :)
