How do you make sure someone is not a prevert photographer?

SO I helped a firend at this wedding planning event and now a photographer who was there wants to take headshots and stuff for me TFP. He apparently want to do like a whole series of photos of me because he likes my facial features. I have never modeled and I watched a lot of horror films. How do I know this guy is not a perv or trying to kill me or something. It seems like a fun thing to do and i would like to have some nice pictures but not at the risk of my life. Help.

Update:

Friend not fiernd or whatever the heck i wrote. A little about me. 24. Married. Female. Would not consider nude or lingerie modeling and would punch the guy if he asked.

pros will never deny you a chance to check their references.

    -ask to see his portfolio.

-contact some of the other models he has worked with and ask them.

-does he have a business license or is it just a hobby for him?

-pros have a dot com, not a myspace or facebook page.

-hmmm... ok they may have MS and FB just like everyone else but its not their primary business page. lol.

-discuss hair, makeup and wardrobe, location, setting and types of poses/photos with him before you agree to the shoot.

-ask how he will use the pics

-ask for a copy of the model release he will expect you to sign and read it and make sure you understand every word.

just use a little common sense. its kind of like internet dating without the date part.

    have fun!

    Hi Rachel,

I'm a painter and have done a couple of nude paintings in class.

I don't own a studio of my own and have never contacted a model (be it for a nude or not).

Of course that a professional model is more expensive, so I could not afford.

But lets suppose that I would contact someone to pose for me (naked or not) - in this case since you're a woman, lets take that into account.

First thing the model would have to be grownup.

It would have to be a mentally healthy person (this doesn't mean that I wouldn't paint someone with mental problems, but depending on the problem, a person would come together).

The model could come with a friend or familiar.

I believe that the artist or photographer should make all things possible to make the model feel at ease and confident.

This will make the session more profitable for both.

    Kind regards,

if he has a studio and is shooting weddings hes proberly legit, the approach sounds a bit odd, go with a friend and if you feel uncomfortable leave

Listen to your inner voice. Chances are if you are wondering about this guy there is a good reason to.

If you can bring your husband and a couple of friends with you. then go for it. If he doesn't allow that, then do NOT do it!!
